Fixing the shape of a document
Scanners produce pages in the order the sheets went through the feeder, which is
rarely the order the document should be in. Organize PDF gives you every page as
a thumbnail on one screen so you can fix the sequence, turn the sideways ones
upright and drop the blanks in a single pass, then export once.
Working from thumbnails rather than page numbers
Seeing the pages is the point. When a scan of a twelve-page bundle opens with a
cover sheet, has page 7 upside down and two blank backs of double-sided sheets,
that is obvious at a glance and invisible in a list of numbers.
- Reorder by dragging a page where it belongs.
- Rotate any page in 90° steps — individually, not all-or-nothing, which is
what you need when only some sheets went in the wrong way round.
- Remove blanks, duplicates and the cover sheet.
Everything is provisional until you export, so you can undo a decision without
starting again.
The pages themselves are not re-rendered
Reordering and rotating change page metadata and page order; they do not
redraw the content. Text stays selectable, image resolution is untouched, and
file size barely moves apart from the pages you removed. Rotation in particular
is lossless — it sets a rotation attribute, so there is no generational quality
loss no matter how many times you turn a page.
