When you need a picture rather than a document
A PDF is the wrong format in more places than people expect. Presentation slides
want images. WhatsApp shows a JPG inline and a PDF as a file nobody opens.
Websites, marketplace listings and social posts take images only. And extracting
one page as a picture is far easier than asking a recipient to open an
attachment and scroll.
Every page of your PDF becomes its own JPG.
Rendered at 300 DPI
Pages are rendered at 300 DPI — print resolution, roughly 2480 × 3508 pixels
for A4. That is high enough to zoom into, to print, and to crop from, rather than
the screen-resolution output you get by screenshotting a page. A single-page PDF
gives you one JPG; a multi-page document comes back as a ZIP with one image per
page, named in order.
Text will look slightly softer than in the PDF, and that is unavoidable rather
than a defect. A PDF describes letters as shapes to be drawn at whatever size you
view them; a JPG is a fixed grid of pixels. Converting means choosing a
resolution and committing to it. At 300 DPI the commitment is generous.
This is a one-way door
The text layer does not survive. In the JPG the words are pixels: not
selectable, not searchable, not editable, and not readable by anything that
expects text. Keep your original PDF — converting back does not restore what was
lost, and DesiDocs has no OCR to recover it.
